- I need to convert my current internet box to windows to add a developer :-). It
- will be running WFWG for now with 4.0 and NT to follow.
-
- What we need looks like this....
-
-
-
- WFWG CLINET (EtherExpress16) \
- \
- WFWG CLINET (EtherExpress16) \ \
- SERVER -------(SLIP)------> internet service
- WINDOWS SYSTEM (offsite/SLIP) /
-
-
- The server will need to:
-
- 1) Remain connected to the internet almost 24 hours a day (via a commercial
- link we have already established for this Linux box)
- 2) Store and forward internet mail for the 3 clients
- 3) maintain a local news spool so that the three clients can read news via NNTP
- without having to maintain local copies of news
- 4) provide ftp services to internet users for product support/information
-
- What winsock software and utilities do I need?
-
- Help!
-
- Thanks! (BTW - I will summarize)

- Subject: TRUMPET NEWSREADER: HOW POST FILES?
-
-
- Could someone please post or e-mail me a way to post files (such as
- text or uudecoded files) using the Trumpet News Reader? All I know is that the
- News Reader creates a "post.msg" file before posting. After selecting "Post"
- from the menu & manually typing out a message (such as this one) & then
- finally posting, the "post.msg" file contains the posted message.
-
- If there isn't a method built into the program itself, can I somehow
- manipulate the "post.msg" file in such a manner as to allow me to sent the
- contents of anouther file.
-
- If there is no file posting command in the News Reader, and if I can't
- manipulate the post.msg file, could someone recommend the *name* of another
- news reader. I can find a location using archie.
-
- Any assistance is *greatfully* appreciated. Thank you in advance!
-

-
- Yes, there is, but it's pretty complicated. Here goes:
-
- 1) Select an option from the menu (i.e., reply, forward, etc.) in the mail or
- news window, making sure that you can somehow reach an icon for a good text
- editor while the News Reader session is in progress (you can't minimize the
- icon after you select an option).
-
- 2) Go to that editor and pull up the desired file.
-
- 3) Select the text you would like to paste into your message, then select
- "Copy" or press CTRL+INS.
-
- 4) Make the message window active, position the cursor, then hit SHIFT+INS.
- This procedure will paste the copied text into the message window.
-
- It's tedious, but it works.

-
- Look for winvn082.zip, at microlib.cc.utexas.edu in the /microlib/pc/win/tcpip
- subdirectory, among other places (there may be a newer version). It's not
- perfect either, but it will allow you to post existing files with less
- difficulty.
-
- Good luck!

- The best all round sound player that i have found that works with Mosaic
- and plays .AU files from the command line is SoundTool. Available as
- SNDTLL133.ZIP in the sounds directory on CICA. Hope this is some help.
